Basic Flight Aerodynamics ( PART -15 )

*Specific Fuel Consumption :  In a word , specific fuel consumption is the rate of fuel consumption, when  the weight of fuel used per unit time with the ratio of per unit power & denoted by c.

Specific Fuel Consumption,C = Newtons fuel per second / Brake power in watts. (For piston engine)
Therefore, the rate of fuel consumption  is  proportional to power, when c is constant.

For jet engine, specific fuel consumption is  the rate of fuel consumption when  the weight of fuel used per unit time with the ratio of per unit thrust & denoted also by c.

Specific fuel consumption,C= Newtons fuel per second / Thrust in newtons. Therefore, the rate of fuel consumption is proportional to thrust, when c is constant.
